Administrative Assistant

Description:

  • The Dallas Central Appraisal District is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support to the BPP Division. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and has a positive attitude.

Requirements:

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Distribute incoming mail and messages.
  • Organizes and maintains appropriate filing systems.
  • Prepare payroll information including absence and PTO reports.
  • Answer phone calls to Manager, back up Administrative Assistant/Receptionist when needed.
  • Requisition and maintain office supplies.
  • Prepares division status reports and other statistical information.
  • Maintain logs and records of processes, as needed.
  • Assist staff with work processing, spreadsheets, reports, and distribution as necessary.
  • Performs follow-up work for general correspondence and inter-office memos.
  • Call proper contact for service of copiers, printers, microfiche, etc.
  • Assists in mailings for Freeport and Special Inventory..
  • Monitors expenditures for employee activities budget.
  • Other Aspects of the Job:
  • Familiar with standard office procedures, equipment, and personal computers.
  • Must have aptitude for efficient use of the MARS, GIS, and ARB systems and possess a working knowledge of District policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • PHYSICAL and MENTAL ABILITIES: Incumbent must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time with ability to reach, bend and move up/down. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds of files or equipment. The position requires the ability to concentrate on assigned tasks and the ability to manage time effectively in order to meet production and quality objectives. Incumbent must be able to operate office equipment including computers (keyboard and touch) and calculators. Incumbent must be able to communicate clearly on the telephone and face to face, including the ability to ask questions that will bring forth the information needed to make sound decisions.

GIS Application Supervisor

Description:

  • The Dallas Central Appraisal District is seeking a highly motivated and experienced GIS Application Supervisor to join our team.
  • As a GIS Application Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS applications.
  • You will also be responsible for supervising a team of GIS professionals and ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience developing in a standard geospatial industry development language (e.g., C# .NET, JavaScript API 3.x and 4.x, HTML5/CSS) and frameworks for both desktop and web platforms.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Candidate will assist in GIS programming projects in collaboration with appraisal and technical staff and support GIS application development for multiple platforms.
  • Candidate will share some supervisor responsibilities with the Mapping Supervisor over a team of seven GIS Specialists.
  • PREFERRED:
  • A bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems or related field with at least five years of relevant experience or equivalent combination is preferred.

  • The position requires the ability to concentrate on assigned tasks and the ability to manage time effectively in order to meet production and quality objectives.

GIS Specialist

Description:

Requirements:

  • Candidate should have at least one years’ experience using ArcGIS 10.X application software and at least one year interpreting metes and bounds descriptions commonly found in deeds and subdivision plats.
  • Candidate should be willing to answer customer service questions related to property description and other GIS-related issues.
  • Candidate will collaborate with GIS technical staff and technical support on GIS program development for multiple platforms including website and computer assisted mass appraisal software (MARS) functionality.
  • Expertise in the use of ArcGIS application software, specifically parcel editing.
  • Ability to work with geographic information system technology and its inter-relationship to property tax appraisal.
  • Understanding of legal descriptions in conveyance documents and assessor plats.
  • Knowledge of standardized engineering drafting techniques, trigonometry and descriptive/coordinate geometry.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for performing complex research from various source documents, and then digitizing and compiling the database necessary to maintain plats and ownership records for property splits and new additions.
  • PREFERRED:
  • A bachelor degree in GIS. In certain circumstances GIS, or related field or a technical degree in drafting, surveying and/or geographic information systems with at least three years of related experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of ESRI suite and/or ArcGIS products.
  • PHYSICAL and MENTAL ABILITIES:
  • The position requires the ability to concentrate on assigned tasks and the ability to manage time effectively in order to meet production and quality objectives.
  • Incumbent must be able to operate office equipment including computers (keyboard and touch) and calculators.
  • Incumbent must be able to communicate clearly on the telephone and face to face, including the ability to ask questions that will bring forth the information needed to make sound decisions.
