Benefits
The District provides a wide range of benefits for its full-time
employees. Following is a summary of some of the available benefits. This data
is provided for informational purposes only and may be changed without notice.
Paid Time Off Program
The Dallas Central Appraisal District offers an innovative Paid Time Off (PTO)
program that combines the benefits normally associated with traditional Vacation and Sick programs.
Under the PTO plan, employees accrue hours each payroll that can be used for a variety of personal
and family needs including personal and family illness, school events, assistance with eldercare
issues, vacation, etc. Unused PTO time is paid to the employee based on seniority at
termination or retirement.
Holiday
Employees of the District are entitled to eleven (11) paid
holidays, equivalent to 88 hours per year.
Retirement
Immediately upon employment, all full-time employees of the
Dallas Central Appraisal District become members of the statewide
Texas County and District Retirement System. The District matches
pre-tax employee contributions of 7% of gross salary. Employees are eligible to
retire at either the rule of 80 (service plus age equal 80), twenty years
service at any age, or age 60 with at least 10 years service.
Social Security
The DCAD does not participate in the retirement and disability
portions of Social Security.
Medicare
Employees contribute 1.45% of their earnings to the Medicare
portion of Social Security.
Group Medical Insurance
The District makes available and pays the premium for employee
medical coverage through the
United HealthCare Choice Plus program, which provides in and out of
network benefits for all full-time employees. Optional dependent coverage is
available at an additional expense.
Dental Health Plans
The District provides for coverage through a Dental Health
Maintenance Organization with an option to buy up to a dental indemnity plan.
Vision Plans
All employees are enrolled in a basic vision plan providing in and
out of network benefits for eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses.
Dependent Coverage
Employees may, at their own expense, purchase dependent coverage
for medical and dental plans.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Both medical and dependent care accounts are available to
qualified employees.
Life and AD&D insurance
The District purchases term life and accidental death insurance
in the amount of one (1) times the employee’s annual salary.
Optional Insurance Coverage
Additional term life insurance can be purchased up to a maximum
of three (3) times the employee’s salary, not to exceed $300,000.
Additional accidental death and dismemberment insurance can be
purchased up to a maximum of 10 times the employee’s salary, not to exceed
$500,000.
Income Protection Plans
The District has a comprehensive income protection program that
includes an innovative Paid Time Off Program, a Salary Continuation program, and a fully
insured Long Term Disability plan.
Deferred Compensation
All employees may participate in this section 457 tax deferred
savings program through Nationwide
Retirement Services.
Credit Union
The District offers payroll deduction and membership in the
Texas Federal Credit Union.
Casual Dress
Throughout most of the year, employees can wear business casual
dress.
