Business Personal Property Appraisal Assistant / Customer Service

Description:

  • Come and join the Business Personal Property Division as a team member of one of the premier Appraisal Districts in Texas!
  • As a BPP Appraisal Assistant/Customer Service, you will have the opportunity to provide excellent service to the public and a high level of support to the BPP Division.

Requirements:

  • The ideal BPP Appraisal Assistant/Customer Service has excellent public relations skills, is adaptable, and has a positive attitude.
  • Basic computer skills including word processing are required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is helpful. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with demonstrable oral and written communication skills are required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Applicant must be able to pass a standardized typing skill test administered by the District.
  • PREFERRED:
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Bilingual (read and speak) skills.

Property Records Exemption Specialist

Description:

  • As a Property Records Exemption Specialist, you will have the opportunity to provide excellent customer service to the public.

  • As the Property Records Exemption Specialist, you will work directly with property owners regarding ownership and exemption issues allowing you to have a direct impact on the community.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Software.
  • The ability to concentrate on assigned tasks and to manage time effectively.
  • The ability to ask questions that will bring forth the information needed to assist the customer efficiently.
  • The ability to communicate clearly on the telephone and face to face. Additionally strong written communication skills are necessary.
  • Applicant must be able to pass a standardized skill test administered by the District.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds of files or equipment.
  • Office experience with knowledge of office and copying equipment, postage meters, and other office equipment is beneficial.
  • Experience with U.S. Mail, UPS, Express Mail Carriers and procedures is beneficial.
  • If assigned to deliver and retrieve mail to and from the Post Office, must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and comply with the DCAD automobile insurance requirements.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Interpret official documents regarding ownership.
  • Process exemption applications.
  • Work customer service on the phone and in person.
  • Review reports for quality control and audits.
  • Prepare journal entries to correct accounts on previously certified rolls.
  • PREFERRED:
  • Bilingual in Spanish - (read and speak) is helpful.
  • Previous customer service, appraisal or tax office experience.

Appeals and Support Specialist

Description:

  • Are you organized and great with people? A self-motivated, quick learner, with previous office experience?
  • Come and join the Appeals and Support Department as a team member of one of the premier Appraisal Districts in Texas!
  • As an Appeals and Support Specialist, you will have the opportunity to provide a high level of excellent service.
  • Assists the Appeals and Support Supervisor, Team Leaders and Administration staff in Appraisal Review Board (ARB) functions.
  • Processes and flags ARB and Supplemental protests. Research protests, identify account numbers, read protest letters for special request and verify ownership and mailing addresses.
  • Scans protests, ARB packets, appointment of agent forms, value settlement records and withdrawals.
  • May assist with scheduling and rescheduling of ARB and Supplemental hearings.
  • May assist Appraisal Divisions with ARB updates. Performs special and complex research projects.
  • Verifies ARB and Supplemental panel rulings.
  • May assist Team Leaders with IT testing/problem tracking.

Requirements:

  • Basic computer skills including word processing.
  • Knowledge of Mocrosoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with demonstrable oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a standardized skill test administered by the District.
  • PREFERRED:
  • Previous office experience as well as Bilingual (read and speak) skills.

Residential Appraiser

Description:

  • As a Residential Appraiser, you will interact with taxpayers, settle values, and provide excellent customer support.
  • As a Residential Appraiser, your goal is to establish equal and uniform valuations and maximize support to 61 local governing bodies in Dallas County.
  • The ideal Residential Appraiser is detail oriented, analytical, and has excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Additionally, the ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and has a positive work ethic.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; major in Real Estate or Finance preferred.
  • In certain circumstances, the college degree requirement may be waived for an individual with either an RPA and current active registration with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, or ten or more years of active appraisal experience within the last fifteen years of the date of application.
  • Sufficient mobility to visit property and/or construction sites that may feature rough terrain and difficult access.
  • Ability to work outdoors in unfavorable weather conditions including extreme heat and cold as well as wet and rainy environments.
  • Ability to read maps, plats, and architectural plans.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a certificate of vehicle insurance with liability limits of not less than $100,000-$300,000-$100,000.
  • Successfully complete a driving and criminal background investigation.
  • Ability to meet all state requirement for successful registration with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accurately measure properties and gather information.
  • Negotiate and settle value disputes with property owners and tax consultants.
  • Represent the Appraisal District valuations before the Appraisal Review Board.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve taxpayer issues.
  • PREFERRED:
  • Knowledge of general appraisal methods and processes.
  • PHYSICAL and MENTAL ABILITIES: Incumbent must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time with ability to reach, bend and move up/down. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds of files or equipment. The position requires the ability to concentrate on assigned tasks and the ability to manage time effectively in order to meet production and quality objectives. Incumbent must be able to communicate clearly on the telephone and face to face, including the ability to ask questions that will bring forth the information needed to make sound decisions.

The ideal DCAD Receptionist has excellent public relations skills, is adaptable, and has a positive attitude. The front desk is the first point of public contact allowing you to have a direct impact on the community!

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Software.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time with ability to reach, bend and move up/down.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds of files or equipment.
  • The ability to ask questions that will bring forth the information needed to assist the customer efficiently.
  • The ability to concentrate on assigned tasks and to manage time effectively.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Answers and properly routes incoming calls to the appropriate division.
  • Greets and properly routes visitors to the appropriate division.

  • Assists customers in using Media Center computers, GIS research, and use of the DCAD web site.
  • Monitors visitor activity in the lobby and coordinates with security and the Building Engineers.
  • Provides general clerical support.
  • PREFERRED:
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Previous appraisal office, or other office experience.
