HEALTH ALERT: Dallas Central Appraisal District Operations UPDATE: NOTICES OF VALUE WERE RELEASED ON FRIDAY, MAY 15, 2020 and all Real Property accounts have a Notice posted on the DCAD website for viewing or printing. Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, the Dallas Central Appraisal District office has suspended the public from entering the building or visiting face-to-face with staff. Our staff is available to answer phone calls, emails as well as process protests, deeds, exemption applications, etc. However, for health and safety concerns, and in the best interest of property owners and our employees, the public will NOT be allowed in the building for customer service or informal settlements with property owners and staff at this time. The PROTEST DEADLINE for Real Property accounts was JUNE 15th. Business Personal Property (BPP) notices of value were mailed and available on our website on May 29th and had a Protest Deadline of June 29th. DCAD encourages all property owners and agents to conduct business using DCAD's Online Programs which allows the electronic filing of Homestead Exemption Applications and the uFile Online Protest/Settlement system for filing protests electronically. BPP Property owners are now able to access the online uFile Protest system. Please read the Recent Headlines below for more details.
Dallas Central Appraisal District (DCAD) is responsible for appraising property for the purpose of ad valorem property tax assessment on behalf of the 61 local governing bodies in Dallas County . The appraisal district is a political subdivision of the State of Texas. Our duties include establishing and maintaining accurate property values for all real and business personal property. The Texas Property Tax Code is the primary source of law and guidance for the Texas property tax system.
